Maundy Close

This is Havebury's latest new housing in Out Westgate, Abbeygate ward. It used to contain 8 small 1 bedroomed houses with allotments, and has been redeveloped to provide 30 new homes, all at an affordable rent. It 's name. Maundy Close, was apparently inspired by The Queen's visit earlier this year on Maundy Thursday.
There are 12 x 2 bed flats, 4 x 1 bed flats, 6 x 2 bed, 6 x 3 bed and 2 x 4 bed houses built to a high standard, with much of the hot water created by solar panels. The lucky tenants will start moving in from tomorrow.
At the time of planning there was concern about loss of allotments (which have been moved elsewhere) parking in Out Westgate and the danger of driving into the main road from the development. Time will tell, but the upside is that the housing list will be a little shorter now, thanks to Havebury and partners.
I looked round yesterday and was very impressed.
