This is the website of Councillor Paul Farmer. It is a mixture of information about his work in Abbeygate ward and Tower division, general County, Borough and Town Council issues and occasional light-hearted blogging about anything.

Concerned at Ruin bar encouraging binge drinking by offering £20 all you can drink nights! All other pubs, bars and clubs are doing their bit to provide a safe drinking environment but not this lot. It will just create more noise, rubbish and sick. Seems to be a lot of moaning about the place generally and this is the newest issue with them. Is it actaully allowed?
I have moved your comment (and my reply) to the post on Hunters bar @

Councellor Farmer, have you seen the article in the BFP this week that claims Club Ruin promotes responsible retail of alcohol.
If you have a social-networking facebook account available to hand please follow this link for a matter that is troubling me greatly:

The drink deals are wholly inappropriate for the 16+ age range, which is only worsened by another group created on facebook, brought to my attention by my daughter (who is only fifteen):

A regular 16-21 underage night (please note that until recently the '16' read '13') which openly promotes multi-buy drink deals. Needless to say I will not be allowing my daughter to attend who made no secret that she had drunk in there before on numerous occasions with her equally irresponsible friends. Despite their wrongdoing I still believe that the onus lies with the venue operator who is in breach of licensing law and should be addressed as a matter of urgency.
When is something going to be done about this venue that continues to abuse the licensing law which openly promotes their blatent disregard?
Thank You for your time.
Anon - yes I saw the piece about Ruin. If youo would like to contact me via email direct i will try to respond.
