No not really. Over all its a very poor show, One could conclude that suffolk people are getting a poor return for their taxes. this is very much a case of all could do a lot better. The only bright part is that the audit commission think St Eds is working well with its resourses. No wonder a single council is been suggested.

St Eds end of term report, Brightest member of a very poor class, can and should do better.

Have you clicked on St Edmundsbury COuncil and read the full report? If so I find it hard to understand how you can describe it as 'a poor show'.

The Audit Commission are a completely independent national body, whose expectations have got even higher recently. Their judgement is based on extensive evidence and wide experience of all public bodies. They are not afraid to criticise where criticism is deserved.

To ignore their rating just devalues those of your statements which do have some merit. I too agree with unitary authorities - against the policy of my political party.

Happy Christmas Bury Boy.

Happy Christmas Paul.

I stand by my comments I firmly consider that the Suffolk Councils could do better, St Eds it is true stood out, from a poor selection.

The Audit Commission are a completely independent national body, whose expectations have got even higher recently ( good so they should, continous improvement is a good goal,). Their judgement is based on extensive evidence and wide experience of all public bodies.( thats bench marking in its simplist form) They are not afraid to criticise where criticism is deserved (good).
They also allocate scores. 4 out of 4 being an acheivement, or World Class ANY thing less is to some a failure. Tax payers deserve more for their money, if the only comparative measure is the audit commission, and these results are not going to get any of us "best in class"let alone world class. hence poor could do better.
