Maynewater flats refused permission

This morning at the Development Control committee I spoke out against the proposed blocks of flats , along with a committee member from the Saxon Gate Community Association. After a lengthy discussion the committee voted by 9-6 to refuse permission, their concerns including the impact of the design on such an important gateway to the town.

It is hoped that an improved application will now be forthcoming, which also overcomes local residents' concerns, including adequate screening from Harrington Close and the importance of building the affordable accommodation first.
