More on Kings Road...

Monday 14th 12.30 pm - Just back from meeting with council officers, police and residents. Consensus that the addition of parking bays in Kings Rd positioned to act as chicanes could help slow traffic. Advice from officers was that making one way would speed traffic if anything. Whilst there I was also asked to visit Shillitoe Close where parking is again getting out of hand. Yellow lines needed.

A resident kindly came to my surgery this morning, and suggested that King's Road should be one way (eastwards) with car parking bays arranged as chicanes. Could this work? How would the rest of the roads fit into the one way system? What do you think?

Forgive my cynicism, but yellow lines? They are only there for people who want to see them. There is more and more often a car parked at the corner of Southgate Street and Harrington Close, on double yellow lines and what? It makes leaving HC a gamble and it secures a parking space for the car owner who parks there... I have never seen anybody enforcing the single or double yellow line restrictions in the street. And don't get me wrong, I really respect your efforts! But there is as much as one can do without enforcement.

You are right of course Sylviane. We do need much more enforcement. I shall take a look at the spot you mention. If it is a serial offender let me know via email, and I will send the PCSO round with a book of tickets!
