Meeting at the crossroads

Yesterday I had a site meeting at the 'crossroads' (or 'crosspaths') between the Saxon Gate development and Almoners Field houses just off Cullum Road. Residents had asked if the dog and litter bin situation could be reviewed, given that there was only one of the former nearby.

I have been trying to organise a litter bin in this area for some time, but am always conscious of the fact that one person's convenient bin is often their neighbour's eyesore. Having a site meeting with Tony Edwards, SEBC Waste Operations Supervisor, and talking to those who use these footpaths (especially dog owners) enabled us to decide what could be added. All residents of Almoners Field have been consulted.

I am pleased to say that a litter bin will be fixed to this post:

whilst a dog bin and litter bin (back to back) will be fixed to the existing post halfway along the path to Friars Lane at the Greene King entrance off Cullum Road:

This means that the dog owner pictured, and many others, will have a facility in between the existing dog bins - which will also help to fill them all more slowly. The new style of large plastic bin, will look like this (red for dogs and black for humans!):

So there are some backhanders @ SEBC & BSETC then!? I must be on the wrong council becasue we certainly don't get them.

Welcome back BB.

Yes, they must have really made up for all the criticism and complaining that councillors willingly endure.

The new litter bins are ridiculous, I dont disagre having them, but they are plastic and I walk through the Nature Reserve between Beetons Way and Sringfield Lane every morning and the bin has only been there for about a month or so and it has already been set on fire. Surely there should be made from metal!!!!

I will look into it anon...
