Season's Greetings...

...from the heart of Abbeygate - but taken exactly where?

Bridewell Lane or College Street?

PM - a bit vague, but perhaps near enough to claim the credit if I pinpoint the location on Saturday. At present, I'm thinking of the balcony of the flats in Church Walks or College Square. At least, it won't be as far out as Barons Road this time. That one took me almost an hour!

I would say the photo was taken in Church Walks, maybe on the small peice of garden next to Number 8, where the steps lead down to the garages.

You Guys have a big advantage, you are actually IN Bury, whereas I am not!

PM - you did very well, considering you hail from the western inner suburbs and latterly an outlying village.

David - not bad. I cut off the bottom of the picture so you could probably take one very similar indeed from there.

Bury Boy - spot on!

Hurrah for Google Maps!!

PM - that's cheating. And I thought you were a nice girl.

No, I never said I was a nice girl!
It isn't cheating, I am having to visulize it from here, which is harder than being able to walk to the exact location!
At least I am trying :(

PM - I stood on the exact spot on Saturday morning en passant to Waitrose and, of course, BB is exactly right. I saw no sign of any vomit or broken bottles or litter or criminal damage or any other grizzly remnants of the night before.

I know you didn't say, but I just formed that impression when I met you.

Looking forward to more photo puzzles in 2008 but wonder how many more phallic symbols PSF will find. I still think that the Barons Road shot will turn out to be his 'Iwojima' moment.

Who needed to walk to the spot to check ??

The little garden and steps are one of florries stop off points on our walk. That view has always been one of burys hidden gems.
There is another one from waitrose carpark exit looking towards the cathedral. Off the mount near sainsburys on MH, or from the path leading from the BP garage to the abbey gardens, so many to choose from.

BB - yes, I know the Waitrose car park view. Not sure as to which Sainsbury's mount you mean. There is a footpath leading from Layhill Close to Symonds Road which provides an excellent panorama right across Bury including the water tower off West Road.

David - What a nice thing to say about me!
I was looking at view from Waitrose Exit only today, thinking what a stunning view it was.
I love seeing the water tower from far away, it seems so high but not when you are actually there, if you see what I mean!

surely this is from Barnaby Yard not Church Walks?
