County Harvest celebration

Traditionally a civic gathering from the whole county:




to celebrate harvest, in the cathedral. Today former footballer Simon Milton was interviewed by BBC Farming Today's Anna Hill:




Before the event guests gathered in the Borough Offices, including:

Chief Executive Deborah Cadman OBE, her daughter India and Mrs F, and Labour leader Mark Ereira-Guyer with Cllr Bob Cockle and Mrs Cockle:




and the Chief Constable and his daughter Grace, with his local councillor Cllr Peter Stevens.

It's always a grand occasion. Missed it today however. Your post does remind me of when I first moved to Bury a few years ago and thought it would be lovely to take my toddler old off to the Harvest Celebration at the cathedral. I sauntered into town in my casual weekend-wear, strolled towards the cathedral and saw the procession. I admired it and then quickly scuttled off in the opposite direction ;-D

I can't make out the mace bearer in that picture but it doesn't look like Simon (if I've remembered the usual chap's name correctly)...? Is it just my eyesight or did someone else bear the mace?

21CM - you'd have been fine. The photographer yesterday had scruffy jeans and occasionally bare midriff.

Ruby - welcome back! There are two macebearers and one swordsman in all. The macebearer you can see is Margot (recently retired from Parks) and Simon is hidden next to her. I blame the photographer for that.
