Mysterious leak



Here is rather poor picture of a leak into the river Linnet by Stamford Bridge on the very western boundary of Abbeygate. It was taken this morning when there was no surface water draining off and indeed the only liquid in the river at that point appears to be from here.


If you can't see it, the grey patch to the right of the big pipe is a concrete slope, and the wet trail of the leak is just by the pipe. You can't see the opening from which the leak is flowing, as it is hidden by vegetation. Here is a close-up:

I am told that a foul smell sometimes accompanies this area, which makes some think it is an unauthorised sewage pipe. As an anosmic I do not have the means to verify this.

There have been various attempts to discover the source of this leak. SEBC is currently finding out the latest information from the Environment Agency.
