On Tuesday evening the Borough Council, acting as the Licensing Authority for the area, will decide whether to reinstate the Special Area Licensing Policy after it lapsed in January. This follows several months of work by me and the Churchgate Area Association (CAA) to convince the Licensing & Regulatory Committee that the policy is still needed and wanted. For further details

The CAA have shown great spirit and flare in drumming up concrete support for what has always been a popular policy, culminating in 50 letters/emails individually submitted in response to the legal consultation. As a result the L & R Committee unanimously recommended the policy to Cabinet, who did the same for Council. All eyes are on the Council meeting now, where I expect the CAA (who are presenting a 100+ signature petition) will be well represented.
