Is this a health & safety issue?

Remember this picture on the BFP letters' page recently? It went with a personal letter from me (ie private address and no Cllr title) praising an earlier correspondent for encouraging people to clear the weeds outside their houses. I was certainly not writing on behalf of the council, nor even as a councillor.

To my surprise and amusement someone has complained to HM Pincipal Inspector of Health and Safety in Chelmsford, claiming that I had 'asked members of the public to clear weeds from the highway'. The complainant was apparently 'concerned about precautions people would need to take whilst working on the highway.'

The only precautions I took were some sun creme, as this was in the only real summer we have had. Clearing weeds from the inside edge of the pavement is hardly a dangerous activity. If this gentleman has sufficient time to spare to make such an enquiry, I suggest he would be better employed weeding.

"Pornagraphic"!??

Paul, just as well your house is not on a main thoroughfare otherwise there would be a H&S problem with you causing traffic to crash off, blinded by them there legs...

(Yes, I too have sufficent time to spare but at least I'm restricting myself to just being rude on your blog and not writing to the HSE! (About which, by the way: what an idiot!))

Are you actually wearing trousers behind the greenary?

My sentiments entirely, H.

PM: ...er, I think so. Could be bad BFP headline otherwise.

This picture makes me think of what it must have been like for Adam in the Garden of Eden...
Though he wouldn't have been wearing a t shirt of course..

More like Garden of Wyevale.

Obviously time for another post...

If you double clik on the picture to enlarge it you will see some denim-blue shorts lurking beneath the foliage, on my left thigh.

I trust that comment has made you feel better.
