According to Monday's EADT, an independent borough councillor said he had received reports that the Cattle Market car park had been "completely full by 10.35am and the nearby Parkway multi-storey by 11am." Conveniently no mention was made of spaces elsewhere or later.
The facts are that the town's car parks were full only for 20 minutes last Saturday, from 10.55-11.15. At all other times, and since, there have been spaces.
And on Saturday both Angel Hill and, more significantly Shire Hall car parks were closed.
This story seems just another situation where "bad news", however incompletely provided or reported, gets stories printed - and publicity for those who provide them.
