Polls

A massive 1542 votes were received about Ruin nightclub, with 60% wanting it not to stay open until 3am. 247 votes were received about Kings Road, with 55% saying it was an improvement. However it is clear that both polls involved multiple voting from the some computers! Sadly I don't think I shall be able to hold any more polls, what little faith I had in them now being shattered.

Many of you have criticised me (not just here but also on Facebook) for having a reactionary stance on this yet-to-open club. But I simply asked for your opinion.

For the record I do have concerns about an establishment that already has permission to open until 2am on Thursdays-Saturdays asking to extend its licence to 3am before it has even been tested. Nearby neighbours have contacted me to say they fear current noise, litter and vomit will continue further into the early morning if this happens. Many of them lived here before the licensing laws allowed later opening - don't they have rights?

Oh, by the way, the picture is of the new West Suffolk House being built to house St Edmundsbury and Suffolk County councils' staff next year. Given the possibilities for local government change in 2010 would anybody like to offer a new name for this building?

I thought you - qua Councillor - had already done so. "West Suffolk House" if I remember correctly.

BB - but to whom?

Interesting that you didn't reply to my accusation, and that you only posted after the July 14th "private" briefing by the acting CEO. Care to share with us why you felt "but to whom" was the most relevant comment ahead of tomorrow's Bury Town Council meeting?

MH you talk in riddles.

What 'accusation'? Why 'interesting'?

'But to whom' was obviously a tongue-in-cheek retort.

"accusation" - that you had already named the building. See your own portfolio paper to Cabinet dated June 25th etc.

Of course its long since been officially named, MH. Re-read my last paragraph of the post when you've found your sense of humour.

Oh PF you are such fun!

You said "Oh, by the way, the picture is of the new West Suffolk House being built to house St Edmundsbury and Suffolk County councils' staff next year. Given the possibilities for local government change in 2010 would anybody like to offer a new name for this building?"

In the absence of you telling everyone you personally had already chosen and adopted a new name, how are we supposed to see your sense of fun?

Glad to amuse, but I did not 'personally' choose the name West Suffolk House, MH.

I am still waiting for someone with a sense of humour to make an offer.

One of One-Suffolk Houses?
