The recent and apparently somewhat orchestrated correspondence on the subject of town centre bars/pubs today reaches the dizzy heights of debating letterbox urination. The So-Bar disputes the claim of a recent correspondent and David Nettleton waxes on about the dangers of this practice, both almost implying that such acts are too outlandish to be credible.
However this certainly does happen, based on what residents have told me, and its no laughing matter. Why does a man do such a thing? Well, its a peculiarly male sort of protest isn't it? You only have to Google the words "urination" and "letterbox" to find out more.

I'm just off to work now but will buy a copy of the Bury Free Press later to see what I'm supposed to have said. I will probably agree with every word.
Reading this blog article, all I can think of is the toddler who died in the pond. I find all the comments insensitive.
Anon - having lost a brother in a drowning accident I am as sympathetic as anyone to the plight of this poor boy. However, just as the BFP does not restrict itself to this story, nor have I refrained from commenting on another subject which the paper features.
I agree with another anonymous. Perhaps it would have been more sensitive not to have displayed this page of the newspaper.
The illustration is whatever the current front page is. By next Friday it will have changed.
Why is it insensitive? It happened and if more people know about it then it may prevent it happening to someone elses child.
Picklesmum (is your child really called Pickle?) it is insensitive because the headline is about a child dying and the article has nothing to do with the child dying. Some people may read the article feeling that such a staggeringly tragic headline as it is, has been ignored. Although I am sure this would never have been the author's intended purpose, this is how some readers may perceive it. I certainly did. Everyone is entitled to their own feelings.
