Mrs F's big adventure

On Wednesday 8th August we went by train to Ipswich where my better half had a special assignment. We could have gone by car, but we've hardly ever travelled by train together - so we thought it would be quite an adventure.

First we had to get across town to the station, and then park our bikes. This was no easy task as there are only a handful of bike stands available, which seems odd.

We had got there far too early of course, just missing the train before ours. After buying our tickets we had to lie down and recover from the shock, but unfortunately the nice waiting room was locked. Just as well that Mrs F had me to protect her against strange men - and there were one or two around.

After half an hour's journey, during which the ticket collector (conductor? guard? - David N will know as he's a qualified railway signalman) managed to remember everyone who had already had their tickets checked, we emerged into the sunlit uplands of Ranelagh Road

After accomplishing her special mission, we relaxed with some coffee...

...and watched the world go by (where have I seen this on another blog???)...

...before retracing our steps...

I cannot finish without leaving you with an image which originated from the other side of the Ipswich platform:

Does Mrs F mind you photographing her? More to the point does she know that random pictures of her are being posted on this blog?

"Within reason" she says. They are not random, though.

The guard, rather than the driver, is in charge of the train.
