YES!

Those very few of you who followed my former blog will know that I had great difficulty getting my weight down after Christmas. Here is the stark (nay, gruesome) evidence - yes, those are my toes - that I have at long last succeeded.
It all goes to show that dieting rarely works long term, whilst giving up something over a long period does. Before Christmas I gave up a mid-morning biscuit, then lunchtime pudding (usually a biscuit!). By the time Lent came along more drastic action was required to get below 11 stone, so I have given up evening puddings. Have other bloggers given up anything for Lent?
I have a busy week so don't expect another rash of daily posts for a few days.

Why is your weight of any interest to bloggers who are reading your blog for information about your work in your ward?

It's not. But is "the work in my ward" what all bloggers are strictly interested in?

Well done on the weight loss Cllr Farmer, but I'm a bit concerned you may become too thin. You have got down to the weight you want, but if you carry on restricting those puddings, you may become thinner. Similarly, if you allow yourself those simple pleasures, you may pile it all on again. How do you keep a balance? Does anybody know the answer?

I don't do well at giving things up - it makes me want them all the more. But am not eating much today - after mother's day yesterday when I was fed chocolate and taken out for a Chinese lunch in Cambridge.

Yes it is a difficult balance. Life's hard.

Why didn't you go to a Bury Chinese, Ruby? Cllr Patrick Chung (one of the few Bury councillors without a blog) will have been disappointed.

I gave up smoking 20+ Rothmans a day when I was 24. Rather than use a substitute like chewing gum, I just pretended that I was always between cigarettes. I have never smoked since, so at least that's one vice I've avoided.

What's the relevancee of "(Warby)" in Hemmingway? Do you concede you are either another of my many fictitious correspondents, or were you missed off the electoral register?

As I said to you previously Cllr Farmer in a comment you omitted to publish, "Hemmingway" is my maiden name. I'm sure you can work the rest out for yourself. Do you make a habit of trying to work out the addresses of everyone that blogs you? You have my e mail address if you need to contact me privately.

Ruby - yes, Patrick will be upset you didn't eat there! It is there in this finest of eating establishments, that I have spent many pounds sterling and also amassed an additional 4 stone on top of Cllr Farmer's weight in preparation for my channel swim attempt (you have to have fat on you to keep the cold out) Cllr. Farmer - you'd never get across the channel at a meagre 10 Stone 13 1/2 Lbs, even if Cllr. Nettleton does think that you are, and I quote, "Fit as a Butcher's Dog". (Why have we not mentioned Cliff Richard here yet?) LOL :)

LOL, we eat out in Bury plenty. But yesterday my lunch out was combined with a trip to the supermarkets of Mill Road to stock up with Chinese and Indian foodstuffs. And I do need to get out of Bury occasionally you know ;-)

I gave up and then restarted smoking several times before being able to ditch it for good. Even now I'd still sometimes like a cigarette when I'm stressed. Less so now than a few years ago though. Well done for being able to pack it in first time.

You haven`t updated us on your weight recently? Hope you don`t lose too much with the stress of the elections!

Remains the same despite the end of Lent.
