On the "Sofa"

On Tuesday I spent from 12-2pm on Lesley Dolphin's "sofa" at BBC Radio Suffolk in the Ipswich studio. Actually it was an ordinary seat with the view shown by the photo above. Fortunately for the listeners I didn't have to talk for two hours, but was interviewed by Lesley in between news, travel, weather - and competitions.

The lyric competition asked for the original singer and title of:

"Take a look at her hair, it's real. If you don't believe what I say, just feel. I'm gonna lock her up in a trunk so no big hunk can steal her away from me"

As the answer is much easier than Lesley's usual competitions I just about got the answer, although I confused it with the flip side lyrics.

Anyone know it?

Hee hee, I'd forgotten all about that song. I think Cliff Richard did the original but the one I remember was the version with the Young Ones - which was very funny :)

The wonderful Cliff Richard

Yes, it was Living Doll. The first time I heard this was in the early 70's by a famous glamrock band of the day. They were called Mud. What's it like "On the sofa"? I believe Beccy and I are doing it sometime in the near future about my Channel Swim Attempt in July(www.HoffysChannelSwim.org.uk).

Well done all. Sadly the first time I heard it was on the original 45.

I am very glad to see that "Hoffy" is once again contributing. Things may now become more interesting!

...or not...?

It depends.....................

Never mind the Hopfensperger appreciation or otherwise debate - can't you anonymous commenters keep up with my posts? By the time you read this you will be 2 behind. What about the clocks etc?

On reflection, I wonder how many men would publicly describe pop legend Cliff as "the wonderful"?

Your last comment could be construed as homophobic.I am a male Cliff Richard fan and I too am prepared to publicly say he is wonderful. I am anonymous, however, because I do not want my comments to be ridiculed publicly.

Rock on Steve Williams

I certainly did not intend my question to be construed in that way. Nor do I intend to ridicule your comments - but I do not see how your remaining anonymous prevents that.

"Steve Williams" knows what I meant.

Are you perhaps a teeny-weeny bit jealous that no-one (so far) has called you "wonderful" on your blogg?

I can see this blog site suddenly dissapearing and re-appearing at an "invited guests only site" somewhere in the depths of the Internet! I note I didn't get a response to my question "What's it like on Lesley Dolphin's sofa". Any reason why not?

I think Cliff Richards is absolutely fantastic. I am a male and I hope that I look as good as him when I am his age. I am writing anonymously because I actually fancy him but I haven`t yet come out and I don`t want people in Bury to know who I am.

Yes, I am very jealous.

I didn't say what its like on the sofa, because its just like it is in any radio studio. Don't drive up the ramp and scratch your wing mirrors as I did on the way down.

The comments on Cliff are getting silly.

The deleted comment was not censored. It was simply a duplication of the previous one - I thought once was enough.

I agree - they`re getting silly. But quite funny, nevertheless!
